POLICE urgently want to hear from the good Samaritan who came to the aid of a disabled man as he was being robbed in the street.
Police are investigating the attack which happened in Chalvedon in Pitsea at about 5.30pm on April 4.
A 33-year-old man, who has learning difficulties, had been to the shops and bought a chocolate bar and drink.
He was approached by a woman who demanded cash and threatened him.
She snatched his shopping bag from him.
However a passer-by intervened, got the shopping bag back and walked the victim home.
The victim suffers from learning difficulties.
The day after the incident police arrested a 25-year-old woman in connection with the incident.
She has been bailed until May 16.
Police urgently need to trace the man who came to the victim's aid so that they can gather further evidence.
The good samaritan is a white man, around 6ft tall, aged in his mid to late thirties, medium build with a bald or shaved head.
Dc Andrew Rowley, who is investigating the incident, said: "We are looking to locate this man as he is a witness to the robbery and also a possible victim to an assault from the female suspect. I ask him to contact me at Basildon CID on 101."
