CASTLE Point Association of Voluntary Services is asking for volunteers to help rehabilitate offenders.
Essex Offender Services wants to hire a volunteer mentor to speak with people who are offenders.
The volunteer should be patient and understanding as they will have to help ex-convicts get back into the community through work placements, help them with skills needed for employment and encourage offenders to complete tasks set to them.
The role will include speaking with offender managers and police officers who are working with the ex-offenders to help them overcome their problems.
The volunteer will also have to help out in Jaywick on Tuesday mornings at a drop-in group, which offers support to ex-offenders.
Castle Point Association of Voluntary Services states it needs a volunteer who is flexible during the week and the opportunity would be ideal for someone looking for a career in the criminal justice system.
For more information, call Castle Point Volunteer Centre, which is based in the Tyrells Centre, in Seamore Avenue, Benfleet, on 01268 638416.
