TWO people have been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a motorbike collided with a car.
The collision happened close to The White Horse Pub on Southchurch Boulevard at about 5pm and resulted in a man and his female pillion passenger being taken to Southend Hospital.
The man sustained serious head and leg injuries and the woman suffered serious leg injuries after their Yamaha motorbike struck a Ford Mondeo.
A police spokesman said: "A road crash happened on Southchurch Boulevard in Southend when a white Ford Mondeo and a blue Yamaha motocycle struck each other shortly before 5pm on Tuesday, April 29.
"The male motorcyclist sustained serious but non life-threatening injuries and was taken to Southend Hospital by paramedics.
"A female pillion passenger was also taken to Southend Hospital after sustaining serious leg injuries and her condition is currently being assessed by medical staff.
"A section of the road is closed while an investigation into the events surrounding the crash takes place."
Any witnesses to the crash are asked to call Pc Gill Brettell at Southend Road Policing on 101.
