FREE and fabulous music will resound through Priory Park every Sunday afternoon in May with a programme of exciting performances at the bandstand.
Every Sunday from 3pm-5pm there will be a range of classical and jazz music performed by talented musicians and there’s great music on Bank Holiday Mondays too.
From 3pm-5pm on Sunday, Southend Wind Orchestra takes to the podium at the bandstand in Priory Park, Victoria Avenue, Southend.
Then on Monday May 5 from 12.30pm-2.30pm there will be a performance from Just John – a solo singer fundraising for Southend Hospital.
From 3pm-5pm the same day, Southend Jazz Cooperative can also be heard.
From then, on this month’s forthcoming performances are as follows:
• May 11, from 3pm-5pm - Avanti Jazz Ensemble
• May 18, from 3pm-5pm - Whirlwind Quintet
• May 25, from 3pm-5pm -Tilbury Brass Academy
• May 26, from 3pm-5pm - Carol Braithwaite Jazz Crew.
Southend Council’s head of culture, Nick Harris said: “This hugely popular live music series continues throughout June, July and August on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, and on Sunday afternoons in September.
“We hope as many people as possible will come along to enjoy the experience. The bandstand is located in one of Southend's most beautiful parks and offers residents and visitors the chance to hear great music in a wonderful outdoor ambience.
“All of these events are free and some seating is provided. Please take note that car parking within the park is limited.”
