A MOTORCYCLIST who was seriously injured after thrown from his bike into a car is in a stable condition.
The 35-year-old from Benfleet was taken to Basildon Hospital by paramedics after sustaining serious internal injuries when his blue Suzuki motorbike and a white Ford Transit van hit each other on the A13 towards London just before the Five Bells intersection near Basildon.
As a result of the crash, which took place shortly after 7.30am on Thursday [May 1], he was thrown from the bike into a grey Ford Mondeo.
The crash partially blocked the A13 from Five Bells to the Stanford Le Hope bypass but, although all lanes were reopened by 8.45am, recovery of the car from slip road at Five Bells caused queues beyond the Pitsea Flyover within the following hour.
Anyone with information in connection with the crash is urged to contact investigating officers at Laindon Road Policing Unit on 101.
