A driver and his two passengers had a lucky escape after their car crashed and rolled onto its roof.
Residents in Victoria Drive, Leigh, rushed out of their homes after hearing a series of crashes outside. They were confronted by the sight of a black Volkswagen Golf on its roof, a strong smell of petrol and damage to four parked cars.
The crash happened at about 7.30pm on Sunday.
A resident said: "I heard what sounded like a car accelerating up the road and then lots of prangs and one almighty bang, which sounded like scaffolding crashing.
"I ran to my window and I saw a black VW Golf soft top that had flipped onto its roof."
She added: "We didn't know what we were going to find, as the scene was absolutely frightening.
"Looking back at the scene, it's a miracle anyone is still alive."
Neighbours rushed into the road to help the dazed driver and passengers, as they crawled out of the car.
The resident added: "We were becoming increasingly aware of the leaking petrol and wanted to get everyone out as soon as possible."
Firefighters attended the scene to make sure the area was secure and ambulance staff checked over a male passenger, believed to be in his late twenties, and a female passenger, believed to be in her early twenties.
Neither needed to go to hospital.
Police have confirmed a man has been arrested in connection with the incident, but investigations are continuing into the cause of the accident.
