South Essex is set for a £15million boost to help create jobs and training, but as yet there are no firm details of where the money will go.

The funds will be used to create thousands of new businesses and training opportunities across the region over the next four years.

Talks are now under way about the best way to invest the cash to boost the opportunities for young people and their families. This will contribute to the future success of the local economy.

The Rev Steve Williams, chair of Thames Gateway South Essex Social Regen-eration Forum, said: "The area is evolving and will change enormously in the next 15 years.

"As a partnership, our aim is to keep ahead of the game and support our businesses and communities so they can grow and take advantage of new opportunities."

The cash from the East of England Development Age-ncy will be used to raise aspirations, build confidence and boost skills levels to enable people to reach their full potential.

Details of specific projects have yet to be finalised. However, three priorities have been agreed: * To help young people, aged 14 to 24, their families and neighbourhoods * To increase the possible benefits to south Essex of the 2012 London Olympics * Improve the economic success of Thames Gateway South Essex.
