Students from Belfairs High School proudly showed off their super fuel-efficient race car to engineering apprentices.
Pupils from the Leigh school used the car to compete in the Shell Eco-marathon at the Rockingham Motor Speedway, in Corby, Northamptonshire, last year.
The aim of the race is for vehicles to travel as long as possible using the least amount of fuel.
The students were able to show off their futuristic car to a group of apprentices from the Southend-based engineering firm Ipeco, who visited to check out the cutting-edge technology.
Jan Andrews, a spokeswoman from the school, said the idea was to enhance links between industry and the school.
She added: "We enter the eco-marathon every year and normally do very well.
