Thieves went on a crime spree when six vans were broken into in one night.
The crooks got away with more than £2,000 worth of property and caused £500 damage to the vans, parked in and around Rayleigh Road, Thundersley, overnight on Wednesday.
Police believe the crimes are likely to have been committed either by group of a thieves working together, or the same thief, because the victims' vans were all parked in adjoining streets.
A Vauxhall Vivaro, in Rayleigh Road, had its window smashed and a TomTom sat nav system stolen from inside, along with a drill. The items were worth a total of £1,000.
Two vans were then targeted in Asquith Gardens.
A sat nav system, worth £200, was also stolen from a Citroen Berlingo.
The thief then broke into a Ford Transit and stole a wallet containing £150, CDs and driving documents.
Two vans in Sandown Road were also raided.
Tools, including drills worth £625, were stolen from a silver Nissan Kubistar and £15 was taken from another van in the same road after a thief forced the lock.
A blue Transit, in Cheltenham Drive, had a window smashed which caused £200 damage, but the thief only stole £4 cash.
Police spokesman Alan Jones said: "We are obviously investigating links between the incidents due to the close proximity of the roads.
"If anyone saw anything, please call police on 01702 775533."
