A MAN is accused of trying to murder a 17-year-old girl with a screwdriver.
Ricky Crosher, 31, of New London Road in Chelmsford, appeared at Basildon Magistrates’ Court charged with attempted murder, possession of an offensive weapon, namely a screwdriver, and theft from a shop.
The attempted murder charge follows an incident in Billericay on November 4 at around 11.30pm.
Police officers, the dog unit and the Essex Police helicopter were called to a house after reports a girl had been injured.
Crosher was initially arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
The teenager was treated for head and back wounds at Basildon Hospital.
Crosher did not enter pleas when he appeared at Basildon Magistrates’ Court.
His case adjourned to Basildon Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing on February 5, 2014.
