Benfleet High Street could be set for a makeover after plans were lodged for five new apartments to be built.

A planning application has been submitted for an existing building in the heart of the town to be demolished.

It is then hoped that five new apartments will be built in its place.

The apartments would come with parking if approved.

The planning application has been lodged with Castle Point Council.

Premier Booze Corner, on Hamlet Court Road, has submitted the application for a premises licence with Southend Council.

Should the plans be approved, the trader will be able to sell alcohol for consumption off the premises.

However, Premier Booze Corner’s opening hours will remain the same.

A planning application has been put forward for a centre to be constructed on land off Warwick Crescent.

The Dunton Fields Early Years Centre would be able to welcome 56 children, including an outdoor play space, and offer bike storage and staff parking, along with associated infrastructure.

The application has been received by Essex County Council.

Property Risk Inspection has an interest in an oak tree adjacent to Rutland, The Drive, which is causing subsidence damage to Roselea, The Drive.

The company is attempting to identify the landowners in order to discuss available management options to stop further damage being caused. If the landowner cannot be found, Property Risk Inspection will seek to carry out the changes needed.

Southend Council has announced the temporary prohibition of entry, parking, waiting, loading, unloading and suspension of one-way traffic on Avenue Road.

Motorists are instead being asked to follow an alternative route via St Vincent’s Road, Milton Road and Avenue Terrace.

The order has come into effect and may continue to be in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed. The closure is required while BT pole replacement works take place.
