With no reopening date in sight for our favourite local boozers due to coronavirus, do you remember some of these old pubs which closed long before the pandemic?

We have rediscovered images of previous watering holes in Pitsea, Rochford, Shoebury and Wickford.

The national lockdown has resulted in pubs having to close their doors once again, leaving some at risk of going bust.

The Lost Pubs Project - which can be found at closedpubs.co.uk and has supplied these photographs - remembers pubs which some may have forgotten and it is fascinating to think of them being thriving boozers in their heyday.

Some of these businesses have made a return, such as the Shoeburyness Hotel, while the Parsons Barn is now a Wetherspoons pub. The New Ship Inn and White Swan also have different names nowadays.
