We have rediscovered images of previous watering holes in Pitsea, Rochford, Shoebury and Wickford.
The national lockdown has resulted in pubs having to close their doors once again, leaving some at risk of going bust.
The Lost Pubs Project - which can be found at closedpubs.co.uk and has supplied these photographs - remembers pubs which some may have forgotten and it is fascinating to think of them being thriving boozers in their heyday.
Back in the good old days - the Old Ship was a favourite watering hole on North Street, Rochford, before its closure and is now the Antica Roma restaurant
Some of these businesses have made a return, such as the Shoeburyness Hotel, while the Parsons Barn is now a Wetherspoons pub. The New Ship Inn and White Swan also have different names nowadays.
Closed before making a return - punters were shut out of the Shoeburyness Hotel on the High Street in 2004 but it reopened in 2012
No longer a pub - the Kings Head has become a community space in Rochford having closed in December 2016
Yesteryear - the Railway was built on Pitsea's High Road in the 1920s but fell on hard times and closed for good in September 2006
New identity - the New Ship Inn was situated on East Street, Rochford, but has since reopened as the Grey Goose
Replaced with flats - the Fambridge Anchor was situated on Fambridge Road, Rochford, until it closed for the final time in 2003
