A MAN was chased by a group of eight people who were armed with a six inch knife.

The victim, in his 30s, was chased through a car park in Southend, before being involved in altercation with the group, who were aged between 15-25years old.

Two attempts were made to stab him with a "six inch knife."

He did not suffer any injuries in the altercation outside Chiltern Flats, on Coleman Street.

He was then chased towards Sutton Road.

The victim then flagged down a police officer on patrol.

A spokesman from Essex Police, said: "We are appealing for witnesses after a man was threatened with a knife in Southend.

"No arrests have been made and our enquiries are ongoing."

DC Ashley Pavey, of Southend CID, said: “I would encourage anyone who has any information on this incident to come forward and speak to my team.

“We believe there were quite a few people around at the time, some of whom were standing on balconies. They may have seen the people involved.”
