Basildon Hospital could be set for a new look after plans were revealed to give the building a makeover.
A planning application, which would see the hospital undergo a facelift if the proposals are approved, has been lodged with Basildon Council.

There would also be office floorspace and associated external landscaping, along with parking.
However, the plans have yet to be approved.
>A pedestrian and cycle only zone is set to be put in place outside a popular Leigh school.
West Leigh Junior School, which saw pupils return to the classroom when coronavirus restrictions were eased last month, will see the restrictions put in place outside its gates.
The pedestrian and cycle only zone will be situated from Ronald Hill Grove’s junction with Westleigh Avenue to Marine Avenue.
The zone will operate during term time only, Monday to Friday between 8.20am-9.20am and 2.40pm-3.40pm.
Residents are, however, able to apply for permits exempting them from the restrictions.
The restrictions are due to come into place on April 26 and will remain for a maximum of 18 months, during which time Southend Council will monitor the scheme.
Should the move prove to be a success, a permanent scheme could be introduced.
