ARMED police descended on a Southend street with a man seen with a gun.
The man was threatening a woman with the weapon on Coleman Street, Essex Police confirmed.
A search of a building on the road swiftly followed.
Essex Police firearms unit was joined by officers and the dog unit.
A man was arrested yesterday morning.

A spokesman from the firearms unit, said: "We were deployed to Southend where a man was seen in possession of a gun threatening a female."
A spokesman from Essex Police, added: "We were called to a block of flats in Southend after a firearm was reportedly seen this morning, Monday 26 April.
"Officers attended the address, on Coleman Street, just before 7am.
"A 35-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman, both of no fixed address, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and possession of a knife.
"They have both since been told that they face no further action."
