POLICE were inundated with calls from worried residents after a man was attempting to get into homes.
Homeowners reported damage was being caused on Sunday in Basildon.
However police dog Diesel was quickly on hand, and chased a suspect after they tried to flee the scene.

A man was arrested in the town.
A spokesman from the Essex Police dog section, said: "Several calls from worried public in Basildon regarding a man trying to get into houses and causing damage.
"He ran off when he saw officers.
"Police dog Diesel was deployed for a chase and quickly detained him allowing his human to make an arrest."
Essex Police was contacted for further comment.
