THURROCK'S annual cycle marathon has been given a £5,000 boost by the Thames Gateway Development Corporation.
The corporation is sponsoring this year's event, which is organised by the Rotary Club of Mardyke Valley in association with mayor Diane Revell.
The money raised by the June 1 marathon will go to local charities.
Last year's event raised £20,240, which was divided between St Luke's Hospice, the Essex Air Ambulance and Thurrock Scouts.
