CLIMATE campaigners took to Southend Pier to call on the Government to pay more attention to carbon dioxide from airplanes.
A new Climate Change Bill, currently being discussed in the House of Lords, will monitor all carbon dioxide emissions, except the UK's share of international aviation and shipping.
Members of the South East Essex Friends of the Earth are urging the Government to include these in the Bill.
As part of the protest on Saturday, April 5, a campaigner dressed as Prime Minister Gordon Brown played with a toy aeroplane.
James Duddridge, MP for Rochford and Southend East, said: "Hundreds of constituents have contacted me to tell me they're worried about climate change and want to see the Government take action.
"We need an effective climate change law which commits the UK to taking action."
