THE first stage in a revamp of Basildon Council's reception area has been completed.
A new revolving entrance, central reception, planning desk and cashier points are now greeting visitors to the town centre offices in St Martin's Square. Once finished, the work will see a one-stop-shop created, offering cashiers and planning, housing, revenue and benefit services.
The move is designed to improve access to council services, speed up inquiries and cut customer waiting times.
Lee Washbrook, customer services manager for Basildon Council, said: "The front of our new reception area is open and the second stage is under way.
"This is part of our plan to bring services under one roof, cut waiting times and create a smooth flow for customers.
"We hope it will make it quicker and easier for people to get the help they need."
