AN afternoon tea break for Neighbourhood Watch area manager Maria Georgiou was interrupted for a special presentation.
Castle Point Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership showed their appreciation for Mrs Georgiou's commitment to the scheme over 15 years.
Peter Burch, chairman of the partnership and Conservative councillor for Cedar Hall ward, presented her with a certificate of appreciation and an award of £500.
He said: "Maria works tirelessly to develop Neighbourhood Watch in the area. I am pleased the partnership has made this award to recognise her work."
Castle Point district commander, Chief Insp Paul Eveleigh, added: "Maria works very closely with my police officers and community support officers for the benefit of community safety, often spending many hours at the police station and out recruiting new neighbourhood watch areas."
