THE Smellies for the Sick appeal has been boosted by the proceeds of a quiz night.
The charity supplies toiletries for patients at Southend Hospital who do not have their own toiletries when they are admitted to hospital.
Christine Mason organised a quiz night at Hawkwell Village Hall and raised more than £580 towards the charity, which supplies 18 wards.
She said: "More than 100 supporters of Smellies for the Sick enjoyed new quiz masters Julie and Martin Butler's fun evening and at the same time raised £581 for toiletries for those hospital patients in need."
- There are collection points to donate toiletries at St Andrew's Church, Ashingdon, St Andrew's Church, Rochford, Hawkwell Baptist Church, Rochford Library, Hockley Library, the Rochford, Rayleigh Association of Voluntary Services Office at Rayleigh Library and the outpatients department information desk at the hospital.
