A CHARITY curry night has raised £1,100.
The evening at the Tandoori Parlour in Hart Road, Thundersley, was organised by MP Bob Spink to raise money for a drugs awareness project.
The project is run by Ian Miles and Richard Keeler, of the Thundersley Congregational Church.
The project visits schools to steer children away from drugs. Mr Miles is hoping to use the money to buy a drugs display unit with fake samples of drugs, so children can see what they look like.
Dr Spink said: "I was delighted with the result.
"There was a wonderful atmosphere and superb entertainment. We raised £1,100 clear profit for a very good cause.
"I am astounded by how many people in Castle Point are involved in voluntary work. I congratulate Ian and Richard and the Thundersley Congregational Church for all they are doing for our community."
