ROTARIANS saw at first hand how their donation has helped develop Canvey Sea Scouts Centre.
Members of Canvey Rotary Club were given a guided tour of the 4th Sea Scouts' centre, next to St George's playing fields, to learn about the complex.
They also found out about many of the activities it is used for by more than 150 young people.
One of the many training water craft was on display in the main hall and members had opportunities to ask about the climbing wall and the archery equipment.
The Rotarians were then shown how their donation of £2,100 to buy new computer equipment had been spent and installed - and how well used it is by the Scouts.
Bradley Cox, Scout leader, said "This equipment means so much to us.
"The youngsters use it for scouting coursework as well as school work, particularly those who don't have computers of their own."
The Rotarians have had a long association with the 4th Sea Scouts, having donated funds for the Scouts to purchase navigation lights you find onboard ships.
They were installed in the new centre prior to its opening in 2005.
Rotary President Bill Dudbridge said it was a "wonderful evening".
He added: "It has allowed our members to see first hand the hard work that Bradley and his assistants do week in and week out, for the youngsters on Canvey.
"It was especially pleasing to see the computer room with our six screens and printers.
"This money was donated to us at Christmas by people on Canvvey when we went round with our Santa's sleigh.
"It gives us great pleasure to see it benefiting so many young people".
