A WOMAN is preparing to take the plunge for Fair Havens Hospice, which supported her mum before she died of bowel cancer.
Recruitment consultant Sally Hawkins, 26, will do a tandem skydive with her sister-in-law, Michelle Thwaites, to raise money for the hospice.
The fundraising is in memory of Sally's mum, Louise, 57, who died in February, 2007, after a four-week battle with cancer. During her illness she was supported by the Macmillan Nurses and Sally has now completed a course of counselling with Fair Havens Bereavement Team.
Miss Hawkins, of Salisbury Road, Leigh, said: "Fair Havens helped our family immensely, especially towards the end of mum's life.
"The Macmillan Nurses helped control her pain and gave us advice on her medication."
The skydive will be from Cambridge Airfield and involve a 10,000ft freefall at speeds exceeding 120mph.
Miss Hawkins, who works for Kelly Services in Southend, said: "I am scared of the jump, but it is something me and mum alwayswanted to do.
"Michelle and I are determined to go through with it."
