TWO people have been arrested on suspicion of driving offences after a car ended up on its roof following a crash in Southend early on Friday morning.
Only one vehicle, a Peugeot 206, was involved in the incident in Southchurch Boulevard between Hamstel Road and Castleton Road at around 1am.
Southend fire station commander Martyn Hodder said: "When we got there and saw the back of the car we knew anybody in the back of the car would have been dead.
"But the couple stepped out without a scratch. The police had called us to make the scene safe and clear up the fuel - there was a lot of fuel everywhere."
Two people from Southend, a boy, 17, and woman 33, were arrested in connection with the accident. They were released on police bail.
