CAMPAIGNING residents are calling for action to tackle congestion and create more parking spaces in their street.
A petition launched by people living in Central Avenue, Southend, calls for changes to the road layout to make life easier for motorists.
Labour St Luke's councillor Mike Royston will present the petition to Southend's full council on April 24.
He said: "The residents have my full backing and I am delighted to present this petition on their behalf.
"They experience difficulty with parking and the council has agreed to my request to review existing double yellow lines and seek ways to improve parking in the area.
"The petition proved the need for something to be done to help residents and adds weight to my argument the council should take urgent action."
Mr Royston added some of the parking restrictions in the area had been in place for a long time. He said they may need to be reviewed.
He added: "This is a congested area without off-street parking in many parts, which means the people living in the road often have great difficulty in finding parking spaces."
