A PROGRAMME of events in Southend will celebrate England's patron saint in style at the weekend.
The Southend branch of the Royal Society of St George will hold its annual banquet at Prittlewell Priory on Saturday, April 19, with music from medievalmusicians, the Minstrels Gallery, and soloist Rebecca Churchward. Flight Lieutenant Gary Munrow from RAF Uxbridge will also deliver a St George's address.
On Sunday, April 20, a church service and parade will take place at St John's Church, Pier Hill, at 11.30am with the parade marching from the Naval and Military Club in Royal Terrace.
After the service, the salute will be taken by the Lord Lieutenant of Essex, Lord Petre, with Southend mayor Daphne White and MPs David Amess and James Duddridge.
Refreshments will be provided at the Naval and Military Club.
