A SPECTACULAR tallship will soon be moored off the shores of Southend.
The world's largest tallship, the Sedov sailed out of the harbour of Portugal's capital Lisbon yesterday bound for Southend where she's scheduled to arrive at the Pier at about noon on Wednesday, April 30.
Sedov will be open to visitors during her six-day visit to Southend - and there will be plenty to see on board this 87-year-old vessel, with nearly 60 miles of rigging, more than 45,000 sq ft of sails, and even it's own ship's museum.
Admission is £3 (£1 for a child) and there's a bar with both Russian and international snacks.
There is also a souvenir shop. On Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4, weather permitting, the ship will make a five-hour trip out into the estuary.
Passengers will have the option to learn the ropes and help sail the ship, or can simply sit back and enjoy the experience of sailing on a tallship.
The trips have been selling fast, but there still some spaces available - tickets cost £60 for adults and £35 for children. These are available from Southend Visitor Information Centre at Southend Pier on Western Esplanade.
