THE latest invitations to honour the hardworking members of the community in Castle Point have been sent out.
Castle Point Mayor Beverley Egan has hosted three afternoon teas since August to thank the community for their good deeds or achievements.
Young volunteers, award winners and active pensioners have been invited to the latest event.
Those invited to the council offices on May 10 include two primary school children from Canvey who organised a litter pick of North Avenue, Canvey, a long-serving police officer and a schoolboy who won a national writing award.
A 93-year-old keep fit enthusiast is also on the guest list, along with a 73-year-old NVQ student.
Mrs Egan said: "We have such a fantastic community in Castle Point, but we don't always get to see or thank people working behind the scenes.
"Hopefully this event goes some way towards remedying that."
