LITERATURE fans in Basildon are about to discover it's not only the likes of Richard and Judy who can enjoy their own book club.
Bookworms in the area eager to discover new authors and stories or who enjoy reading and chatting about books are being urged to share in the enjoyment of belonging to a reading group.
Basildon Library is inviting anyone interested in either setting up a new reading club or participating in an existing one to get in touch.
Library staff will help enthusiasts create their club or give advice about joining one of the many reading groups currently operating in the district.
Meeting places for book club gatherings range from libraries, community centres and pubs to other members' homes.
Groups will be provided with free multiple copies of titles they want to read, a venue for their meeting if desired, a newsletter, and help and information from library staff.
David Finch, Essex County council's cabinet member, said: "Reading can be a shared pleasure and our libraries are the perfect places to offer everyone the chance to exchange experiences and ideas."
