FAIR Trade to tackle poverty in Africa will only be achieved if Europe takes the lead, according to a Basildon student who took her message to the heart of the European Union.
Grace Ndongme, from Basildon, was invited to the European Parliament by Essex Euro MP Richard Howitt, to discuss her dissertation on European-Africa trade relations.
Grace, who is a student at the University of East Anglia, joined other students to quiz the local MEP on his work in Brussels.
Labour's Richard Howitt MEP said: "Grace Ndongme's studies throw a spotlight on trade negotiations, which are one of the European Union's biggest powers affecting people's lives at home and in the world.
"Everyone who supports fair trade locally when they go to the shops, should expect European politicians to support fair trade in negotiating world trade rules."
