A WOMAN had £16,000 spent on her home after a television crew turned up at her home.

The team from ITV's 60 Minute Makeover team visited Thurrock for the second time this month.

Shocked Sally Stokes of Boyce Road, returned home from the country to a very different house. Her two daughters Shanie and Sadie had decided to surprise their mum who has had a very tough time of late following the death of her father and separation from her partner.

Shanie said: "My mum really needs cheering up, she deserves something to make her happy.

"For the past ten years she's had a bit of a bad time, she found out my sister had a bad heart condition and my grandad had cancer."

Designer John Amabile gave four rooms in Sally's home a makeover.

The team set to work on the living room and adjoining dining room, the kitchen, Sally's bedroom and Sadie's bedroom.

The show was broadcast on Tuesday.

Mrs Stokes said: "It's lovely.

I am really pleased. What a transformation.

"This means so much to me. I haven't decorated for 18 years."
