A MOTORCYCLIST is in a serious condition in hospital following a crash on the A13, which caused traffic to grind to a half for several hours.
The biker was badly wounded after his black yamaha motorcycle was involved in a collision with a white artic Asda lorry near to the junction with the A128 early on Saturday evening.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash, which occurred just after 5pm, and tended to the man who had come off of his bike.
The road was closed for more than two and a half hours, causing gridlock on the Southend bound carriageway of the A13 between Grays and the Orsett Cock Roundabout.
Police are investigating the crash. The victim is said to be in a serious condition in Basildon Hospital, although his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
