A MAN was struck with a hammer during an armed robbery on a phone shop.

Two men entered the Fone Works shop in London Road, Westcliff, brandishing a hammer and a stanley knife and demanding all the phones in the store.

They stole 60 phones to the value of £2000 before making off in a silver Fiat car with a registration beginning T635.

A 26-year-old male employee was pushed to the ground and hit on the head with a hammer.

He was taken to Southend Hospital where he had six staples to the back of his head and a cut on his forehead was glued together. He is now recovering at home.
