A PROMISING youngster has landed a place at a prestigious theatre school.

Lewis Miller, 14, a Year 10 pupil at Bromfords School in Wickford, has won a place with the National Youth Theatre.

The talented teenager beat thousands of other hopefuls to get in, as the National Youth Theatre had its highest number of applications ever.

Lewis, of Victor Mew Close, Wickford, acted his way into the hearts of the judging panel and will complete the 12-day course next summer.

Lewis said: "It means the world to me to be able to go, especially as it took so much hard work to get in.

"I would love to become a stage actor one day."

Lewis got interested in acting after starting secondary school.

He recently wowed his fellow pupils and staff by appearing in the school's sellout production of High School Musical.

He must now raise £850 through sponsorship to take his place on the course. Anyone interested in helping him can call the school on 01268 474509.
