GOVERNMENT inspectors say a Westcliff school has made insufficient progress in improving the quality of its teaching.
Ofsted revealed its findings after visiting Chase High School in Prittlewell Chase in March.
In addition to their main complaint, inspectors also criticised the school's monitoring and evaluation of pupils.
Lead inspector, Heather Weston said: "The headteacher and deputy head provide a clearly articulated vision that all staff are responsible for the progress of their students.
"However, some staff have, as yet, to accept this responsibility."
In September 2006 the school reopened as Chase School after years struggling as Prittlewell Technology College.
This was its third inspection since 2007 and despite the inspection team' s concerns it thought that the speed of progress in every other area of the school was satisfactory.
After studying the report, headteacher Denise Allen was quick to praise the efforts of her teaching staff.
She said: "We are actually delighted the report has been so positive and recognising we are continuing to improve.
"Now we are focussing on the areas where we need to improve even more."
