POLICE have stepped up patrols near Southend Hospital after 23 cars were broken into during April.
The spate of car crime has forced officers in Leigh to step up patrols in the area and place car crime prevention leaflets on windscreens.
The leaflet advises drivers never to leave any valuables on show in their cars, which should stop opportunist thieves from breaking in.
