BASILDON Hospital has scooped a top award for its treatment of children with diabetes.
The Trust's Paediatric Diabetes team were presented with the People's Experience award at the East of England heat of the Health and Social Care Awards last night.
The team of doctors, nurses and dieticians were recognised for education programmes that help children and young people cope with diabetes in day to day life.
They are hoping to continue their success nationally when they attend a ceremony at Wembley on July 1.
Hospital chief executive Alan Whittle said: "There were more than 90 entries across several award categories and we're fantastically proud that our team won, especially as it was for People's Experience.
"Improving our patients' experience is our number one priority and this service is a shining example of working with them to do just that."
