A BREAST cancer charity based in Southend Hospital has received a £1,600 donation towards more equipment for diagnosis and treatment.
The money given to Bosom Pals was raised by Steve Gibb, 45, who ran the London Marathon last month.
Mr Gibb, from Lincoln, works for London Underground. The partner of his colleague Graham Burgess was treated in the Nightingale Centre at Southend Hospital, where the charity is based.
Yvonne Burgess, 49, from Rayleigh, was diagnosed last year Mr Gibb wanted to support the charity to say thanks to the staff.
Mr Burgess said: "I've worked with Steve for 25 years and it was great he wanted to help Bosom Pals. The staff are so good there and the unit has a very peaceful atmosphere."
Steve, who completed the race in three hours 52 minutes, also raised the same amount for MacMillan Cancer Support.
