THESE cute kittens have been rescued after being left out for the dustmen.

The six-month-olds were left in a cat basket next to bin bags on collection day in East Crescent, Canvey.

The cats, who have been named William and Gracie, were found outside the home of Wendy Lea, who was heavily involved in the Cats Protection (charity) for 18 years.

Mrs Lea, 59, said: "Imagine if they'd been thrown in the back of the dustcart."

The kittens were taken to the vets and have been neutered and are now being looked after by Cats Protection until a new home is found.

Mrs Lea said: "What we want to get across to people is they have other options and can contact us.

"If people need help we may not be able to rehouse the cats straight away, but we can give advice and may be able to help."

If you can help rehouse William and Gracie or need advice from the Cats Protection in Castle Point and Rayleigh call 01268 750831.
