Families braved the rain to celebrate the King's coronation in style as a sea of red, white and blue took over south Essex.

Hundreds of patriotic residents came together to mark the event with large street parties and refused to let the rain stop the merriment.
In Basildon there were street parties with closures in Shakespeare Avenue, Basildon, East Thorpe, Basildon, Highlands Crescent, Bowers Gifford and more.
Southend saw street parties in Thear Close, Westcliff, Herschell Road, Leigh, Woodleigh Avenue, Leigh, Leigham Court Drive, Leigh, Christchurch Road, Southend, Merilies Gardens, Westcliff, Westcliff Park Drive, Westcliff, MacDonald Avenue, Westcliff, Poppyfield Close, Eastwood and more.
There was a stunning live brass band in Priory Park, Southend with a large crowd and special guests including Kevin Robinson, Southend mayor and Anna Firth Tory MP for Southend West.
