A POST mortem will not be carried out on the first person to apparently die solely of swine flu.
The Essex coroner won’t conduct an examination because doctors are confident the man, in his thirties, who died at Basildon Hospital, did not have any other underlying health concerns.
Yet MP Bob Spink questioned the decision, and felt a post mortem was “absolutely vital” so experts could learn all they can about the spreading virus.
Meanwhile, it has emerged schoolgirl Mary Pressman, 14, from Billericay, has been quarantined in China while on a schools’ cultural exchange trip.
Mary, 14, and 11 of her school friends from the Deanes school, Thundersley, were kept inside a university complex after pupils from other schools on the visit were diagnosed with swine flu.
