EMERGENCY services had a quieter day on the county's roads but have repeated their advice to people to stay at home.
Essex Police said there had been no major incidents but with temperatures once again plunging overnight drivers were told to only make journeys which are essential.
Ice formed on roads as temperatures dropped, with St Michael's Road, Daws Heath, closed between the A127 and Bramble Road by treacherous conditions.
Other roads affected by ice included Church Hill in Laindon, which was partly blocked near St Nicholas Lane.
Fire crews across Southend, Basildon and Castle Point all reported a quiet day as well, with Essex County Fire and Rescue HQ also issuing a plea to drivers to only travel where necessary.
Homeowners have also been reminded to take care when using additional heat sources to avoid fires, while the ambulance service has reissued its plea for people to only dial 999 in true emergency situations.
