AN aspiring radio star is making his breakfast show debut alongside south Essex funnyman Phill Jupitus.
Journalism student Guy Larsen, of Shoebury Road, Thorpe Bay, was thrilled to learn he had the chance to present the breakfast show slot for Bournemouth University’s radio station, Nerve.
Then Guy, 18, a first-year student at the university, was amazed to find out Leigh comic Phil Jupitus would be his co-presenter.
He said: “There is a two-week period in March when the university radio is allowed to go out around the whole of Bournemouth.
“They asked me to do the breakfast show and I was chuffed enough about that.
“I didn’t have a clue that Phil Jupitus would be presenting with me at the time, so I was completely shocked and taken aback.”
Phil, 47, a former breakfast DJ on BBC Radio 6 and best known for his regular appearance on TV panel show Never Mind the Buzzcocks, will share the studio with Guy for half the station’s two-week run.
The comic is taking part as part of research for a book he is writing about breakfast radio.
l Leigh shoppers can meet Phill Jupitus on Friday, when he opens the refurbished Byfords Food Hall, in Eastwood Old Road, Leigh, on Friday.
The comedian will cut the ribbon at 10am. Staff will also be teaching customers to make sausages in return for a £10 donation to the Haiti earthquake appeal.
To book a 30-minute sausage session, call 01702 52590.
