FIREFIGHTERS were called when a sofa went up in flames in Basildon.
Crews from Basildon and Rayleigh Weir were called to the empty bungalow in The Felmores about 7.30pm last night.
Firefighters used a hose to extinguish the blaze by 7.45pm, checked for any remaining hotspots with a thermal image camera before ventilating the property.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage, but the fire service is investigating.
