A vehicle has struck a bridge at Rochford and trains between Southend Victoria and Wickford are being delayed by up to 30 minutes.
National Express East Anglia say the delays are expected to continue until approximately midday.
Until then engineers will checking the structure of the bridge to ensure it is safe for trains to cross.
