A MAN was whacked round the head with a weapon in an unprovoked assault.

The 43-year-old was in Lincoln Chase, Southend, when he was struck with the unknown object by a pair of strangers.

The thugs ran off at about 1am on Saturday leaving the victim with bumps and scratches.

Both suspects were white and around 5ft 11ins tall. They wore dark hooded tops with the hoods up, and scarves covering their faces.
