STAY out of politics and get on with your day job, Rochford and Southend MP James Duddridge has told the Archbishop of Canterbury.

The Conservative member of parliament was reacting to a critical article penned by Rowan Williams, in which he claimed no one had voted for the sweeping reforms instigated by the Coalition Government.

But, Mr Duddridge believes the leader of the Church of England should not be airing his views on political matters.

Speaking yesterday, he said: “He should stay out of politics and get on with running a church.

“He needs to reconnect with the public, rather than pontificating on political matters.”
