FIREFIGHTERS were called to a flat fire in the early hours of this morning.
Crews were called to Lydford Road, Westcliff, at 3.45am as the roof of a terraced house appeared to be on fire.
Th fire started in the kitchen of the flat in the upstairs of the property.
It is believed it started in a fridge and the blaze gutted the kitchen, the hallway and burnt through the ceiling into the roof.
The flat was empty and nobody was hurt.
The fire was out by 5.30am.
