CONFUSION was caused over a caravan club after residents called up believing their were travellers.
The East Essex District Association of the Camping and Caravanning Club were staying on the fields at Southend High School for Girls, in Southchurch Boulevard, from Friday night for a fun weekend event.
But on the first night of their stay, which had been organised in co-operation with the school, calls were made to police from nearby residents who thought the group were travellers illegally setting up on the site.
Officers from Southend made a visit to the site where it then became clear it was not a group of illegitimate travellers, with the association chairman saying this sort of incident does happen from time to time.
